Overview

Udgíh Se was founded durring the early 15th century in summer of the year 1410, by Mbó̄kīnḱ Gāshvoī 'Lovesio Izzy' Ya̋mé Ermp̪ftär Vúchvē̌ Morgan. The establishment of Udgíh Se was only bairly constructed. The sheer number of problems with its founding were enough to make several of the backers funding Udgíh Se's construction back out of the project. Mbó̄kīnḱ Gāshvoī 'Lovesio Izzy' Ya̋mé Ermp̪ftär Vúchvē̌ Morgan pushed on reguardles, and Udgíh Se was finished, but starts off as a terible place to live.

Udgíh Se was built using the conventions of Tauric durring the early 15th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Udgíh Se is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Udgíh Se is buildings are arranged arrounded a highly ordered system of premissive split-log ties streets which form triangular paterns, allowing the incides of the octagons to be common grounds for the buildings on the edges, be it for parkland, yardspace, plazas, or markets. The town rests behind a thick wall made from clay bricks. The wall has all of the proper fortifications and is well made. Unfortuantly the nature of clay brick leaves it quite vulnerable to siege equipment, though the thickness of the wall lends it simmilar resistnace to a thinner hardrock wall. The town's millitarily questionable fortifications are visibly old, but also obviously maintained semi-regularly. Its likly the local malishia or garrison are tasked with ocasional mantance of the towns defences.

Right off the bat Udgíh Se hits you in the face with its success. Everyone, even the peasants, are dressed in well made clothing. Every tool and implement you can see is finely made, and people will boast to you as obvious strangers of the wonders which can be found in their markets. More interestingly is a total lack of beggars, and plenty of new buildings are going up even as you speak. Somehow this town has come into quite a lot of wealth, and recently from the looks of things. The influx of wealth has brought with it an influx of relaxation. Everywhere you look people are enjoying their prosperity in a slow, casual, and deliberate manner. There’s no rush for anything anywhere you look.

Civic Infrastructure

Udgíh Se has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Udgíh Se. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Udgíh Se's parks.

Udgíh Se has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Udgíh Se.

Udgíh Se has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Udgíh Se is home to a University which provides higher education in a variety of fields, and also serves as a research institute for those same fields.

Cultural Notes

Udgíh Se's bank was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by dynamic designs and complex architectural plan forms; intended to heighten feelings of motion and sensuality, and frequently based on the oval. It made extensive and extreme use of: Grandeur, Contrast, Curves and twists, Rich surface treatments, Gilded statuary, Bright colors, Vividly painted ceilings, Fragmented or deliberately incomplete elements, Large-scale frescoes, Dramatic central projections on an external facade, the use of plaster, stucco, or marble finishing, Illusory effects such as trompe l’oeil, and pear-shaped domes. While beloved by the nobility, the common folk tended to despise the style due to the massive consumption of resources required for even a small building constructed in this style.

Due to the actions of local Kami, spring is short in Udgíh Se.

The Armadillo near Udgíh Se are known to be more aggressive than normal.

Udgíh Se's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in winter and involves consuming a local toxin to channel Chronomancy energies of tier 1 via moments of science.
